What's included: pricing, services and a printable quote in one file
The paid workbook has six sheets: Instructions, Settings, Product Price List, Rate Card, Quote Builder, and Price Change Planner. Settings is where you set your company name, currency symbol, default retail markup percentage, default B2B discount, default wholesale discount, default tax rate, how many days a quote stays valid, and your list of product categories.
Everything downstream reads from those defaults, so you're not retyping your markup or tax rate on every product; you set it once and override it on individual lines only when a specific item needs a different number.
Retail, B2B and wholesale prices from one cost, with margin calculated correctly
The Product Price List holds 200 rows. You enter SKU, product name, category, unit, unit cost, a markup percentage (pulled from Settings by default but overridable per line), a tax rate per line, and notes. From that, the sheet calculates retail price as cost times one plus your markup, then derives your B2B price and wholesale price by applying your B2B and wholesale discount percentages to that retail price, plus a retail price including tax.
The sheet also calculates margin percentage on the selling price, not on your cost, which is the distinction most sellers get wrong. A 150% markup on a $40 cost gives a retail price of $100 (40 x 2.50 = 100), but the margin on that $100 price is only 60%, not 150%: a $60 profit divided by the $100 selling price. If you've been reading your markup percentage as your margin, this sheet will show you the actual number.
The free version includes the same Product Price List math for retail price and margin, but caps it at 25 rows and leaves out the tax, B2B and wholesale columns entirely.
Rate Card for billable services, with a rush surcharge
The Rate Card is a paid-only sheet with 40 rows for services rather than products: service name, category, unit (Hour, Day, Half-day, Project, Word, Page, or Month), your rate, a minimum number of billable units, and a rush surcharge percentage. The sheet calculates the rushed rate for you from that surcharge, so you have a normal rate and a rush rate sitting side by side for every service you offer, with a notes column for anything that needs context.
This sheet doesn't exist in the free version; freelancers and service businesses quoting by the hour, project or word are the main use case for it.
Quote Builder: per-line discounts, tax and a grand total, ready to print
Quote Builder starts with a client block: client name, company, email, quote date, quote number, and a valid-until date the sheet calculates automatically from your quote date plus the Quote validity setting. Below that, the paid version gives you 25 line items, each with its own discount percentage and a calculated line total, rolling up to a Subtotal, a Total discount, a Tax line, and a Grand total. The sheet is laid out to print cleanly as a customer-facing quote.
The free version's Quote Builder covers the same client block and grand total idea but with 10 line items instead of 25, no per-line discount column, and no tax line in the total — it stops at Subtotal and Grand total.
Price Change Planner: simulate a price increase without touching your price list
The Price Change Planner is a paid-only sheet. You enter a percentage increase and apply it to one category or to all products, and it shows the old price, the new proposed price, and the change in both dollars and percent for each affected item. This is a simulation: it never writes back into or overwrites your Product Price List. You use it to see what a 5% or 10% increase would look like before you decide to actually change anything, then update the Product Price List yourself if you go ahead with it.
This sheet isn't in the free version.
Excel vs Google Sheets, and who this is for
You get an Excel build and a Google Sheets build of the same file, using the same formulas for retail price, margin, B2B and wholesale pricing, and quote totals, so the numbers match whichever one you open. There are no macros and no VBA in either version.
It's built for small sellers, freelancers and service providers who are pricing from a real cost rather than guessing at a number, who need more than one price tier (retail plus B2B or wholesale), or who send out quotes and want the discount, tax and total math handled instead of typed by hand. If a static list of prices with no calculation is all you need, the free version or a plain price list is enough; once you're pricing from cost across multiple tiers and quoting customers, the paid pack adds the Rate Card, the per-line discount and tax on quotes, and the Price Change Planner.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between markup and margin?
Markup is the percentage you add to your cost to get your selling price; margin is the percentage of that selling price that's profit, and they are not the same number. A 150% markup on a $40 cost gives a retail price of $100 (40 x 2.50 = 100), but the margin on that $100 price is only 60% — a $60 profit divided by the $100 selling price, not 150%. The Product Price List calculates margin on the selling price so you see the real number instead of mistaking your markup for your margin.
Can I manage more than one price level, like B2B or wholesale?
Yes, in the paid version. The Product Price List calculates a B2B price and a wholesale price from your retail price using the default discounts you set in Settings, with the option to override the markup on individual lines. The free version only calculates a single retail price and margin, with no B2B or wholesale columns.
Does the quote calculate tax?
In the paid version, yes: the Quote Builder's grand total is Subtotal minus Total discount plus Tax. The free version's Quote Builder does not include a tax line; its total stops at Subtotal and Grand total.
Does the Price Change Planner change my actual prices?
No. It's a simulation: you apply a percentage increase to one category or to all products and it shows you the old price, the new proposed price, and the dollar and percent change, but it never writes back into or overwrites your Product Price List. You'd update the price list yourself if you decide to go ahead with the change.
What's the difference between this and the free version?
The free version has 4 sheets (Instructions, Settings, a 25-row Product Price List, and a 10-line Quote Builder with no discount column or tax line) and calculates retail price and margin only. The paid version adds 200 price list rows with B2B, wholesale and per-line tax; a 40-row Rate Card for services; a 25-line Quote Builder with per-line discounts and tax; and the Price Change Planner.
Does this work in Google Sheets as well as Excel?
Yes. You get an Excel build and a Google Sheets build using the same formulas for pricing, margin and quote totals, so the numbers match no matter which one you use. There are no macros or VBA in either version.
